Thank you for your interest in substitute teaching for the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District. Please see below for our Substitute Application.
Please note: you will need to provide college transcripts from a two- or four-year college or university showing at least 60 credit hours of satisfactory credit (grade ‘C’ or better), a copy of your current, valid teaching certificate (if applicable), and pass a background check. If you have a valid teaching certificate and will be substitute teaching under it, you may sub in the subject areas listed on your license for the duration of the school year without having to pay the substitute permit fee; however, if you will be substituting outside of your subject area, then you may only do so for a total of 90 days or pay for a substitute permit. The annual substitute permit fee is $45.00, paid through the Michigan Department of Education’s online system. If you meet the requirements to substitute teach, you are required per State (MCL 380.1230a(6) and Federal (Title 5 and Title 28, Ch I 50.12(b) laws, to pass a fingerprint based criminal history background check. The approximate cost for a background check is $70.00. If you substitute in the ISD programs (Special Education and Career and Technological Education), you may be eligible for reimbursement for your background check fee. Please save your receipt and contact the department director regarding potential background fee reimbursement.
