Dear GOISD Community,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District website.
Our mission at GOISD remains clear: to provide high-quality education and support services that prepare all learners for success in a rapidly changing world. This commitment is reflected in every aspect of our work, from our innovative classroom initiatives to our comprehensive support services.
As we move through the 2025-2026 school year, I am pleased to share some of our most exciting developments and continued areas of focus:
A Major Investment in Career & Technical Education
One of the most significant milestones for GOISD in recent years is our major investment in Career and Technical Education in Ontonagon County. In December 2024, GOISD purchased the CTE facility located on the Ontonagon Area School District's campus — a strategic move that set the stage for transformational growth in CTE programming for our region's students.
The GOISD Board of Education has approved a $3.3 million funding plan to support facility upgrades and program expansion, drawing from our General Fund Balance, the Sale of Non-Voted Bonds, and the Sale of Energy Conservation Bonds. This investment will add dedicated classroom and lab space for a new Construction program, expanding career pathways for high school students from Ontonagon, Ewen-Trout Creek, and Watersmeet Township. We anticipate project completion in fall 2026, and we could not be more excited about what this means for our students and the communities we serve.
This project reflects our deep commitment to preparing young people for the workforce and for life — right here in the Upper Peninsula.
